CREWS will establish, in the one of nation’s highest at-risk earthquake regions, a comprehensive earthquake early warning system capable of rapid detection of regional earthquakes and the transmission of warnings to Coachella Valley users to initiate actions that will protect people and property.
CREWS is a project to increase the availability of EEW within the Coachella Valley.
CREWS will fund the expansion of the existing Early Warning Network and the installation of EEW alert devices within the public schools.
CREWS will also be responsible for the development of EEW procedures and education efforts.
An important goal of the CREWS project is to initiate a sustainable and periodic education and training program without which the potential benefits of EEW will not be realized.
The CREWS project will focus on regional needs, hazards, and priorities but will include collaborations with other regions implementing EEW programs during the course of the project.
CREWS will be able to integrate with any future statewide EEW system.
